What attracted me to Rottweilers?
My husband's friend had a huge Rottweiler male, who I met when we visited with my daughter "Samantha" who was 9 months old at the time when we where living in Holland. At some stage throughout the time while we were there Samantha cornered the dog and he just sat there and waited for her to move and than gently walked passed her. The friend and his wife had no children themselves and I was amazed as to how good he was with my daughter. As my husband was an International truck driver I wanted a dog for companionship who would look after us while he was gone. So you can say it was love at first sight.
My first Rottweiler a pet "Roxanne v.d. Solokennel" - "Roxy" was born on July 22nd 1986 purchased from a registered breeder, however we decided to move back to Australia in 1987 and "Roxy" was left in the love and care of my Aunty.

In late 1987 upon our return to Australia I met up with friends, who's niece who I had met 2 years previously acquired a Rottweiler Bitch, they phoned her, and she came over straight away to show her to us. The bitches name was "Heidi", and she convinced me to get a new Rottweiler as soon as possible. We were introduced to her bitches breeder and we put a deposit down on 1st pick Bitch, with show protential (Thanks for getting me hooked on showing !!!!).
Our Bitch was born on February 19th 1988. "Candy" was a Champion nearly 6 times over, she was a Multi class in group winner,
A BISS winner and in 1995 she won "BEST VETERAN IN SHOW" under breed specialist
"Mrs Catherine Thompson (USA)" - Von Gailingen Rottweilers.
Critique reads as follows: A bitch of still absolutely beautiful body proportions, height to length. Of course she has great depth of body, good depth through the loin area, a beautiful line of neck into shoulder, beautiful front angulation, perhaps a shade short in the upperarm but not to worry. Lovely rear angulation. Probably her worst fauly would be that she is a little low in her tailset. She certainly has a lovely bitch head, a nice dark eye, correct bite, full dentition with only tiny little pink spots in the corner of her mouth. Both of these veteran bitches are grand old ladies and some of the breeders of today should look back at these girls and try to reproduce them. There is nothing wrong with either of these two girls in terms of bone substance and size. Their movement and angulation is better than some off the younger stuff, so maybe you should go back and take a look at the old ones and try to reproduce those.
"Candy" our foundation bitch for the GELDERLAND Prefix, had a wonderful temperament, was a producer of Champion, Group and In Show winning Progeny. She left this earth at 8,5 years of age and that was far to early............
